The Iron Lady Review
So, I know a lot of you guys wanted me to do more reviews in 2012 so here you go! Don’t say I don’t do anything for ya!
There is only one film that is getting all of the attention this week and that is The Iron Lady. I was lucky enough to watch the biographical film before Christmas (I felt pretty special about that). The amazing Meryl Streep plays Margaret Thatcher and if there is one thing I can guarantee you if you do go and watch this film, is that Meryl is bloody brilliant. If the woman doesn’t win an Oscar for her role, well…erm, someone needs to get their head tested. She was completely on point. She captured the look and sound of Margaret Thatcher as well as the lady’s mind and soul – now that’s what you call a great actress.
The film itself focused on the price that Margret Thatcher paid for power. It looked at her relationship with her kids (that pretty much doesn’t exists), her relationship with her late husband and her becoming Prime Minister. I’d sum this film up as being like marmite, some people are going to love it (like me) whereas others who are still very much angry with the mess that she made when she was in power are going to hate it. But if I were you, I’d go and watch it and make up your own mind because there’s nothing worse than when the Oscars come around and everyone’s talking about a film that you haven’t seen.
GEEK FACT: Meryl Streep originally applied to Law School but slept in on the morning of her interview and took it as a sign that she was destined for other things.
